Biking Record and Falafel Taste

There is no relation between a biking record and falafel.

It’s just that in order to get to buy the falafel (no, halal burger, actually), I have set my biking record. :)

[I left the study room at SP around 19.44, ran all the way to the elevator, signed out quickly at the receptionist desk, ran again all the way to my bike and biked as fast as I could. Ha, I reached Albert Heijn at 19.49. :D]

Since this is my first time trying falafel, I think how I found it is worth writing. Even though it is only AH’s falafel.

So, how did I find falafel? Weird. It reminded me of the taste of some sesame paste (Hummus?) that I tried once and dislike. Strong taste and .. bitter?

I googled ‘falafel recipe’ and found that the only weird ingredient for me is cumin. Well, the bean is not familiar but I doubt that it is what causes the unfamiliar taste. So cumin is my suspect.

I checked google translate and cumin is jinten, in bahasa Indonesia. Jinten? For sure, we have it in Indonesia but my mom hardly ever used it. What Indonesian dishes use cumin (jinten) really?? Javanese dishes, I guess. Is cumin (jinten) the thing that produces that unpleasant taste? Or is it the bean?

Hmm…
